American Airlines’ breastfeeding blunder

Flight attendant disallows breast pump inflation.

An American Airlines flight attendant denied a woman from using a breast pump to feed her child.

Dawn Brahos, 38, from Indiana said the female flight attendant loudly forbade her plugging in and pumping the contraption during a flight to Chicago, the New York Daily News reported.

The flight attendant accused Ms Brahos of lying when the mother explained she had inflated the device without issue during two other American flights in the prior week.

“It was humiliating… she kept saying I had to be mistaken, that it must have been a different airline,” Ms Brahos said.

American Airlines offered an official apology to Ms Brahos and said the airline does allow breastfeeding mothers to plug in Medela-brand pumps during flights.

“We apologize for the experience Ms. Brahos had on a recent flight,” an American Airlines spokesperson said.

“Our in-flight personnel are trained to handle these situations with professionalism and discretion.”
