Skal International Sydney North continued a recent tradition for the October meeting with an Oktoberfest lunch at Harbourview Hotel North Sydney.
The hotel put on a great show with an array of German beers and wines to welcome Skal members and guests. The F&B staff added extra pizazz by wearing traditional German dress. The food completed the atmosphere with a fantastic array of bratwurst, weisswurst, roast pork belly, schnitzel, sauerkraut, spring vegetables and all the accompaniments. And, of course, apfelstrudel to finish!
Skalleague Fritz Gubler accepted a cheque donation from President Tim Poulter towards the annual running costs of the Sala Bai Hotel and Restaurant School in Siem Reap. Fritz, who has been part of “The friends of Sala Bai, Australia” since 2004, gave the meeting a little more information on this community initiative. 2012 is the 10th anniversary of the School which will shortly graduate its 1,000th student, drawn each year from disadvantaged Cambodian youth.
