Nestled amongst the old world, cinematic charm of the Roosevelt hotel is a very special little resto-bar by the name of 25 degrees. The name refers to the temperature difference between a medium rare and a well-done burger, such as the ones on offer here. It is a very “LA” sort of a venue with the hipster fusion of a wine bar and a new age American diner.
The open kitchen grill sits behind a long bar housing a variety of premium beers on tap and malt-shop style swivel chairs. Stylish, burgundy leather booths with burgundy suede like wallpaper to match the pressed metal ceiling from where black chandeliers hang above. The passing crowd can be seen through sheer black curtains that provide further shade for the sunglass wearing mix of celebrities, local socialites and tourists.
Other noticeable patrons in the crowd were young parents with children in their company. Smiling groups of Mums (Moms) and Dads enjoying a Pinot while the younger members of their party slurp on jumbo-sized vanilla malt milkshakes. Clearly this is a venue that can accommodate all ages and entire family groups. This would be the perfect location to treat the family to a quick meal before attending a special Disney screening (such as Beauty and the Beast 3D) at the El Capitan situated only doors away.
Specialising in bake house burgers, the size of lawn bowling balls, you have several variations to choose from or you can build your own sirloin, turkey or vegie burger sandwich. Adding as you like, a variety of accompaniments, condiments and sides. The hotdogs are a delicious alternative and the all American fries are divine. Another solid recommendation is the watermelon and yellow tomato, soft cheese and watercress salad.
The chic room, sitting on the Hollywood Blvd side of the hotel, was clearly assembled by the design conscious crew who have been re-inventing the bars and restaurants off the main lobby of the Roosevelt.
The hotel has a long and illustrious history with the movie crowd of the Hollywood district, being home to the original Academy Award celebrations and no doubt many an off-screen romance or secret tryst between stars.
The lobby has a warm marble glow that you could also associate with the Chateau Marmont another retro-luxury hotel in the West Hollywood district.
An obvious place for star spotting and home to the exclusive Teddy’s night spot , makes this an ideal rendezvous location in the epicenter of Hollywood’s action capital.Simply, 25 degrees epitomises fun, casual dinning in a town where fun is high on the list of priorities.
