LinkedIn Best Practices – tips for success

You have just set up your LinkedIn Profile, but how to you make sure you’re getting as much out of it as you can?

We have come up with four easy ways to ensure you’re making you and your business look as good as you can:

  • Post Weekly:  Post something new to your profile each week. Include events, share links to blog posts and press releases, ask for and give recommendations. Remember to keep it professional – save personal updates for Twitter or Facebook.
  • Participate in Group Discussions:  The more you participate, the more you’ll build credibility and trust within your industry and specialty. If you are contributing valuable and educational tips and content, you’ll soon be seen as an expert.
  • Keep Your LinkedIn Profile Up-to-Date:  Update your profile every 3–4 months. Eg every time you start a new position, when you receive an award or community recognition for a volunteer project, or earn an educational achievement, join a professional group etc.
  • Ask and Answer Questions:  Tap into the power of your network 2–3 times a month to ask or answer questions. This will keep your name and business or organization on the minds of your colleagues, and build your credibility.
