Lufthansa is now offering a free mobile application for all iPad users, providing numerous functionalities and services centred around flying with Lufthansa. Individual functions have been tailored to iPad specifics, giving iPad users a totally new experience.

The central feature of the iPad app is an interactive world map which allows users to explore the entire Lufthansa route network at their finger-tips: the departure and destination airport are simply zoomed-in for the user to select a flight; the map shows the requested routes and makes flight booking or flight planning intuitive, easy and fast; destinations are graphically illustrated and accompanied by exclusive and unusual travel information. The new app also offers useful and practical tips on different airports and provides weather updates.

The highlight of the new app is the ‘Experience Lufthansa’ section with virtual insights into the Lufthansa world: Users can interact and personally experience the aviation domain with a 3-D scenario of Lufthansa’s new European cabin, a 360-degree take on the A380 cockpit and a wide choice of videos and free wallpaper motifs to download. 

Additionally, the already familiar mobile Lufthansa functions such as ’Check-in’, ‘Miles & More Mileage Account’ and ‘My Flight Bookings’, are all within easy access on the navigation bar.

“Utilisation of these services and flight bookings on smartphones and tablet computers, like the iPad, is becoming increasingly to the fore in online sales,“ emphasised Marcus Casey, Head of Online Sales and Mobile Services Lufthansa Passenger Airlines.

“With this iPad app, we are responding to customer requirements, allowing them to find and engage with Lufthansa from wherever they happen to be. Through personalised customer interaction and service visualisation, the new app makes the most both functionally and optically of the iPad’s potential.”

The new application extends the array of Lufthansa’s mobile solutions and is a product of the airline’s ongoing expansion of its portfolio of services for users of mobile devices. Alongside the mobile.lufthansa.com portal, applications are already available for users of iPhone, BlackBerry, Android and J2ME smartphone devices.

Lufthansa is also working on making the App available in other languages too.
